PSF in November

Join us!

For the next three weeks we will be reflecting on Advent themes (Nov. 5, 12, 19) at the PSF.

On November 5 and 12 we will welcome local artists to teach us a different art practice to use to reflect on those themes.  November 19 will be a time to finish up projects.

As we make our way to Thanksgiving break, this is a time to set your heart and minds to a new practice and give them a break from the rigors of school as you focus on the themes of advent.  These art projects are made into devotional cards or books that are sent out during advent/exam week to all folks on our mailing list.

As always we start at 7 pm with free dinner.   Program begins at 7:30 pm.  We close with worship around 9 pm.  We meet at the campus ministry center/293 Willey Street/downtown, cream and green house.

Each day for the next few weeks, I will post on FB or send via email something to study for Advent:

Here is a bit of information about it:

Advent

A painting of John the Baptist pointing to Christ.John the Baptist points to Christ, as depicted by Matthias Grünewald (1470-1528). This was a favorite image of the theologian Karl Barth.
“Advent” means “coming” or “arrival.” During the season of Advent, we celebrate Christ’s coming into the world and watch with expectant hope for his coming again. In its historical origins, the season of Advent was patterned after the season of Lent, a six-week period of penitence and preparation for Easter. Similarly, the four weeks of Advent present an opportunity for communal discernment and personal examination, as the church prepares to celebrate the Nativity of the Lord and looks with hope for Christ’s return.  These are the weeks before Christmas that we remember Christ's birth, what the prophets said about Christ's coming, and hope for Christ's reign again.
Themes of advent:  Faith, Hope, Joy, Love, Peace
